The gastric antrum is a part of the stomach structure. The gastric antrum refers to the pyloric antrum or the pyloric part including the pylorus. Generally, the gastric antrum is a common site for inflammation, ulcers, and tumors. Gastric ulcers and gastric cancer usually occur at the position of the gastric pyloric antrum close to the lesser curvature of the stomach.
Diseases related to the gastric antrum include antral gastritis and gastroesophageal reflux, etc. When a gastric antrum disease occurs, a test for Helicobacter pylori should be done. For Helicobacter pylori infection, anti-inflammatory treatment can be carried out.
